Musical Monday (#1.5)

Hello everyone. Unfortunately it is now Tuesday which makes this Musical Monday post a day late. It’s also a week late as well I just discovered.
Maybe I should just rename this feature Musical Tuesdays. Nah, doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? 😉
Musical Monday is a bi-monthly new feature of mine containing two parts. The first part will be a post about a musical that I love and the second part is about storytelling stories. This feature will be every other week. 🙂 You can see the first part here. It is about the amazing musical Next To Normal consisting of Aaron Tveit, Alice Ripley, Jennifer Damiano, J. Robert Spencer, Adam Chandler-Berat and Louis Hobson.
Now, let’s get into this portion.
The first song I chose is Laura Palmer by Bastille. Laura Palmer is a song based on Twin Peaks character’ Laura Palmer.
The second song I chose is Girl With Broken Wings by Manchester Orchestra.
Girl With Broken Wings is about a girl who is depressed and uses sex as a distraction and escape from home.
The third song is Leslie Anne Levine by The Decemberists.
This story is told from the point of view of a still born named Leslie Anne Levine.
The fourth song is At The Bottom of Everything by Bright Eyes
The intro to this song is from a man telling a story about a man talking to a woman next to him on a plane that is crashing.
The final song selection is Sarah by Kate Miller-Heidke.
Sarah is my favorite of this week’s choices and quite possibly the darkest. Sarah is based on Kate’s friend’s experience at a music festival years ago. It tells the story of two girls who go to Livid Festival in 1997 and Sarah goes missing.
Well those are my selections for this feature. I hope you enjoy them. 🙂 Tell me some of your favorite storytelling songs.
