Wondrous Covers Wednesday (#33)

Is it bad to say I love this feature? Because I love this feature. Everytime I do it, I’m like “This is my favorite post ever” (that I’ve written) and then I do one the week later and I’m like “THIS is my favorite post ever”. So with that said, I’m pretty sure this IS my favorite post. If you have no idea what Wondrous Covers Wednesday (WCW) is (or if you’re new here, first of all, hi! Please come back!), it is a feature that lets me show my cover love every WEEK it’s continuous. Basically what I do for WCW is showcase three covers and then give my thoughts on them, BUT, they all have themes or common attributes! Fun, yes? I thought so!

This week’s theme is PAPER. As a former writer and reader, I love paper so much. I love it even more when paper is showcased on book covers, such as post-its, which I did a post on here.

Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid

(Releases August 4th)

~My Thoughts~

How much do I love this cover? So much, oh my gosh. Okay, I like how “Never” there’s a a piece of paper there,  symbolizing the things the characters will “never” do, then for always, the paper has been crumpled up, showing that the list isn’t so important anymore and by “Sometimes”, the crumpled ball of paper is almost nothing. I really love the colors on the cover, it’s pretty simple and it looks really nice.

Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone

~My Thoughts~

There was actually a slight cover change from this cover, unfortunately, I can’t find it right now. It had the same basic elements but the paper and text were different.

Anyway, about this cover. 🙂 I love the cream colored cover because it’s so pretty and clean looking, which definitely fits into the type of book this is (dealing with OCD). It’s a simple cover, but a really gorgeous one. I love how each scrap of paper is of a different type and size. I love how the words are handwritten rather than typed font. Writing plays a big part in the main character’s life so it’s so fitting that there would be words on the cover to show that.

Not After Everything by Michelle Levy

~My Thoughts~

When I first really noticed the cover, I had to take a double take and really examine it, Is that….it is! It’s PAPER. This was the finally cover I discovered with the paper aspect that I loved so much. I like how this one’s different from the other covers because instead of having scraps of papers or crumpled up paper balls, it’s just one piece of paper. This piece of paper also takes the background for the cover, which I loved. I like how it’s getting slightly crumpled up or wrinkled because it seems to fit in the with the summary of the story, dealing with a guy whose father is abusive and whose mother has committed suicide. The paper seems to symbolize his life whereas the characters on the cover appear to be him and his childhood friend who he kind of turns to. I like how the title is a gradient and features blue and orange like Never Always Sometimes.

~Overall~

Imagine these books in physical form! Unless you already can in which case I am FOREVER jealous and you’re so lucky.

As you can see, aside from ELW, the other two don’t release for a while which is just, sad. 😦 But on the bright side, NAS and NAF release on the same day! I shall be sure to cancel any and all plans for those days. 😉
