August ‘ 16 Recap

~My Life~

I am forever trying to figure out the balance between work and blogging. I mean to write posts on my day off, but I enjoy the break too much to do so. It’s a huge problem and I don’t like it. 😦

~Blogosphere Participation~

I tried and failed with Bout of Books. 😦 I thought I’d be able to handle reading before and after work, but I should have known better. I was always so tired or worrying about other things to read.

I sent and received my first #OTSPSecretSister package for the month, which was really great. My SS picked a winter theme and I loved it.

~Favorite Album~

~Album I Wish Had Gotten More Love~

Carly Rae Jepsen’s Side B

It deserves all the listens.

And I wish I had listened to Britney’s Glory.

~Musical News~

Anastasia releases its artwork for Broadway.

~TV News~

Pretty Little Liars is cancelled.

It’s a little sad but also not because that show’s long over-due. Though, it was one of the two-four shows I had left that I was regularly watching.

~Interesting Articles~

I saw these two articles being shared around Twitter and I really liked the insight. I think culture and mental health topics go really under the radar with as much attention they get.

~Music Purchases~

Cry, Roses and Store by Carly Rae Jepsen

~TV Show/Movie Purchases~

I bought New York Minute, seasons 1-3 of Gilmore Girls, Awkward season 1 and completed my season 2 of Veronica Mars on Itunes.

Itunes also had season 2 of Black-Ish on sale so I picked that up as well.

~What I’ve Been Watching~

I started Inuyasha on the 7th and now I’m up to 74. I would be much higher, but I kind of took two weeks off watching it. And the website I watched it on has the videos messed up. 😦 Sad.

I’m somewhat back to watching Buffy, which I’m enjoying after making it through that one episode that took three tries…

How was your last month? Did you read any really good books or receive good books? Do you have trouble with blogging with “real life” going on? Any tips for that? I could use them.

Monthly Recap: July ’16

~My Life~

Hi everyone! Life is just, a lot, lately. I know, I’m being vague. Anyway, I thought I’d talk a little about my job. So I’ve been a little over a month and a half into my new job. It has a couple setbacks though:

1. I’ve had to miss almost every Bible study for this past “semester”. I’m really disappointed since I was really looking forward to it.

2. It’s getting to be a little expensive getting to and from work. This is because I generally only work four hours and if I work until after 5, I have to either

A. Get a cab or

B. Find someone to pick me up.

This is because buses stop running around 6.

I’ve only had to take a cab once so far, but I’ll have to take one to work tomorrow, as buses don’t run on Sundays either. Then I’ll have to take one twice next week, unless I find someone to give me a ride.

This is a bit of added stress on me.

Other than that, the job is going pretty okay. Except I’m really bad at talking to customers and finding things they want. Oops. I still haven’t found my way around the store quite yet. Every once in a while, I will actually know where something is.

I finally managed to get a list of tasks to do. This is super helpful because now I have a much better idea as to what I’m supposed to be doing. Before, it was just like, definitely do this and this and then make like you’re busy doing this other thing.

So it sucked as I’d run out f things to do unless I got called to bagged, which I still need to get better at.

I’ve been super addicted to Swag Bucks. I made an account a super long time ago, but forgot about it or whatever, so I made a new one. So far I’ve earned roughly 1500 Swag Bucks which I’ve turned in for three $5 Itunes gift cards. I’m still waiting to receive the other two. Sigh. The first time it only took two days, but now it’s been like three, going on four days. I’m kind of sad, but whatever. I’ll be buying the rest of season 2 of Veronica Mars with them. Hopefully it will still be on sale when I get the cards…

Nowhere Near You

I finished this book in 24 hours and I realize I should have savored it. 😦 I just could not stop reading, much like with Because You’ll Never Meet Me. It was great. I’ve been thinking non-stop about Ollie and Moritz. Like, non stop. I can’t remember the last time I thought about characters so much.

# of Books Started:

Ripple PS_I_Like_You Spontaneous

I need to finish Spontaneous today so I can mail it out tomororw, so far I like it a bit. I’m still getting used to the writing style which reminds me of Kill The Boy Band. After that, hopefully I’ll finish Ripple as it just got a little interesting.

# of Books For Review:

Nowhere Near You

From Bloomsbury! I died, oh my gosh. A physical ARC. I am so unbelievably thankful for this ARC. No one even knows what this series means to me but oh my gosh, this book made my entire year.

I won an ARC of The Weight of Zero from Alice as part of the Debut Authors Bash hosted YA Reads.

# of Books Traded/Given:

I still need to mail and receive a few books, but so far:

A Tragic Kind of Wonderful from Rose for trading The Edge of Everything

All In Pieces from Stephanie for trading Three Dark Crowns

I’m waiting to send out Spontaneous, Frostblood, Run (HC), You Know Me Well (HC) and The Graces in exchange for Still Life With Tornado, Nowhere Near You, Vicarious, Who It Ends and When The Moon Was Ours.

This will bring me up to having Ripple, The Weight of Zero and Still Life with Tornado all in roughly one month. AKA, three/fourths of my most anticipated books for the Fall.

And yes, you did read about two Nowhere Near Yous. I made the trade before I requested the book and didn’t want to cancel just because I already had it.

I just love the book so much I need two ARCs!

Just kidding (not really though), I’m going to be doing a giveaway with my second copy. Sometime. Most likely in October as I already have my Blogoversary giveaway going on.

Yes, you read that right, Rugrats. It was on sale, okay? It was $4.99.

~What I’ve Been Watching~

I finally finished the first season of Veronica Mars earlier this month. Maybe it was last month, I can’t remember. Anyway. I started watching Bojack Horseman on Netflix and I really like it. I keep picturing Bojack as like….Charlie Sheen in horse form.

That’s it for my month. How has yours been? Is it really hot where you’re at? It was ridiculously hot last week, there was a week long heat advisory. It was horrible. Have you watched any new shows? I know Stranger Things is really popular, I want to watch it soon. Are you participating in #OTSPSecretSister? Is it your first time or are you a repeater?

My Super Late May Recap!

Monthly Recap is basically a post where I recap my life, my blog, entertainment things, etc. 🙂 It will occasionally be joined with my other feature, Looking Forward To (LFT), where I discuss things I’m looking forward to. This post will not include LFT.

Oh my gosh, this is so, so overdue. I got really caught up in May between BEA and well, post BEA, plus dealing with home and such. It was a really long month. BEA was great! I meant to do all of my BEA post last month but…what can I say? I haven’t had the energy or motivation to write them. Plus I’m kind of going in sane over my mini notebook that I lost, then found, then lost again. It had my BEA panel notes in it, not to mention a ton of other writing and omg. Pray I find it, okay guys? Or send positive vibes. ❤

The first part of the month was really full posts. All pertaining to BEA because that was the highlight of my month. I also put in two job applications on the last couple days of May. I’ve heard back from both since then. I was hired at one job, not in the section of the store I wanted, but I was hired. I am the utility clerk at the grocery store.

If you’re wondering What the heck is a utility clerk? then just think about it for a second. 😉

I basically clean floors, dust mop, vacuum, pick up messes if people drop stuff, greet people, take groceries to people’s cars if they so choose, and do bagging sometimes. Oh. And there’s that whole thing about cleaning restrooms. That’s bound to be fun! It’s okay, I’ve got experience there from being at college. That was fun to do every month. It’s only a part time job though, so I don’t think I’ll have to do any super intense cleaning, like mopping the entire floor, unless I’m there until closing or something. Not sure how utility clerks work, but yeah!

I applied at a bank as well which I heard back about yesterday. They scheduled me for an interview for this Monday! That’s exciting. It would be for the mailroom position, FULL TIME (it’s a big deal to me), from 7:30-4:00. I really, really hope I get it.

I bet you’re wondering about the first job, well, since that’s only a part-time position, I’m considering this one. If I were to get the bank job (knock on wood, pray, send positive vibes/thoughts, cross everything), I would decline the grocery store job because…

Let’s face it. The bank is just a better fit for me. It’s full time, which I need and will probably have a higher salary.

So nothing’s guaranteed with that yet, but I’m really hoping I get it.

Oh. There were also a few tornado scares last month. You may have seem me freak out a ton on Twitter. I get really, really freaked out about tornadoes. And storms. Lightning, thunder, wind, rain, dark skies. . .

I am just seriously living in the wrong state.

How was everyone else’s month? Did you do anything exciting? Did you go to BEA and I missed you somehow? Did you participate in Armchair BEA? Do you have anything coming up this month? Are you excited for Summer?

Monthly Recap: April + Looking Forward To: May

This month has just been pretty much unbearable. Just seriously every single thing that has happened has just made me so, so done with this year. I’m going to go into detail about this a little bit regarding BEA in a later post, because that’s caused a huge amount of stress.

We’re still dealing with a situation at home, so that’s…not fun. More stress there.

I’ve been having a lot of anxiety as well just about everything this month, including BEA, so once again, not fun.

Really, I’m just trying to keep myself in one piece. Haha.

Due to all of this, I’ve gone on a hiatus since the 10th. Fortunately though, I think I’m back. I hope I’m back. I can’t go to BEA when I’m on a month long hiatus, that’s silly.

Here’s hoping May gets better, but I have a feeling it’ll be getting a bit more rockier.

So…How has your past month been? Do you have anything you’re looking forward to? How do you deal with stress? Are you excited for any new music or movies? The latter of which I did not include in this post as I couldn’t find anything. Are you going to BEA?? Let me know. 🙂

Monthly Recap: February ’16

Hi everyone! I haven’t posted much this month, I’ve been kind of distracted really. Though life this much is pretty much the same, trying to find a job, being excited about going to BEA in a few months, busy with Bible Study and such. 🙂 I mentioned yesterday I would be doing my Looking Forward To feature in this post, but I’m actually going to do that tomorrow instead.

~What I’ve Been Watching~

I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy a bit, but I’m going a lot slower than I have been. I’m on the sixth season now! I don’t know why exactly because I’ve been just waiting to finally reach this season and now I’m at a standstill with it. I’ll blame it on season five events.

I’ve also been watching Fuller House, I have just one more episode to watch. I’ve liked it a ton.

How To Get Away With Murder came back on TV, but I haven’t watched any of the new episodes yet.

How has your month been? What have you been reading? Are you watching anything on TV lately? Did anything big happen in your life? Did I miss any book to movie/tv show adaptations news?

This is a super late recap, I meant to do it sooner and just didn’t feel like it.

Well, what can I say? It was a month. As far as good/bad months go, it was pretty okay really. I don’t think anything particularly exciting happened, but I could be forgetting something.

The Tsar’s Guard: Top Ten Reasons, Instrumental Playlist and Favorite Yu-Gi-Oh Duels

So while I didn’t post a lot, I did post the most reviews I have in a while! That was really nice, I have a couple things planned for this month with some group reviews, hopefully I can get those done…

~Blogosphere Participation~

I participated in Bout of Books! But I kind of failed because I didn’t even finish the first book I wanted to read. Then I forgot about Bloggiesta. 😦

~What I’ve Been Watching~

I started binge watching Grey’s Anatomy for the first time ever in January and currently I’m up to the 5th season. Impressive you say? Well, you’re right! 😉 I will hopefully write up a post on my feelings when I’m finished watching all the show that’s out right now. If you’d like to follow along, I tag everything as “#AmberBingesGreysAnatomy”. Here’s a warning, there are spoilers and I can get very rangy about certain characters, so. 😉 Proceed with caution.

How was your guys’ first month? Did you do anything exciting? Has it gone well so far? Are you already in any kind of slump, like I kind of was? Are you reading anything good? Have you watched anything new?

December Recap of ’15

~My Life~

I can’t believe that not only is it the end of the month, it’s also the end of the YEAR. Time really just flies by when you get older, I think it’s because you’re more aware of it. My Christmas went well! I’m not doing anything for New Year’s clearly. 😉 I’m going to watch High School Musical though, I think, since Troy and Gabriella met on New Year’s Eve. ❤ My mom’s been wanting me to come downstairs for a bit, so, downstairs I will be. 🙂 I hope you all have an amazing new year and I hope you’ve had a good year this past year. ❤

The Love That Split The World Firsts

Both of these books are really interesting. I have to say I think Firsts has the edge right now, just because it’s not as, um, confusing. Ha. I don’t have to really focus on it, in a hard way, to know what’s going on. I really love it. I’ll finish TLTSTW tomorrow.

~How Did I  Do With My Resolutions?~

~How Did I Do With My Challenges?~

I failed on every front. 😦 I really forgot about them all about halfway through and by September I just didn’t care due to slumps. 😦 I joined a lot of challenges and probably should have just joined a few, ha.

~New Music~

Here is my Spotify playlist for the month, it’s very short. Mostly because I only listened to Hamilton, so…

~Favorite Album~

This will surprise no one, but Hamilton! Before Hamilton it was Maria Mena’s Growing Pains.

~Album I Wish Had Gotten More Love~

Blue Neighbourhood Troye Sivan

I just don’t know what happened here, I was so obsessed with this album coming out and then it came out, but I was too sucked into listening to something else. 😦 Sad. I did listen to it a few times, but not as many as I thought I would.

~Musical News~

Hamilton will be settling down in Chicago for at least a year doing productions there! Then it will go on a national tour afterwards. Most likely. Yay!

~Fantastic Videos~

I thought this video was good, not the greatest, but fun.

DJ Earworm Mashup – United State of Pop 2015 (50 Shades of Pop)

Yes, I did mean to put an ad on here. I just really like this!

~My Addictions~

I know, none of you are surprised anymore.

~Music Purchases~

  1. Disclosure – Caracal (Deluxe)
  2. Grimes – Art Angels
  3. Beach House – Depression Cherry
  4. Beach House – Thank Your Lucky Stars
  5. 21 Pilots – Blurryface
  6. The Last Five Years (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
  7. Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording)
  8. Saint Asonia – Saint Asonia
  9. Art of Dying – Rise Up

All of these albums were marked down, which was great. Half were 6.99, one was 7.99 (I think), 21 Pilots was 99 cents, I got The Last Five years half off, so 5.99 Hamilton was $1.99!

-Freebies From Google-

  1. Kelly Clarkson – Wrapped In Red Google Play Deluxe Edition
  2. Mariah Carey – Merry Christmas Google Play Exclusive Version
  3. Josh Groban – Noel
  4. Josh Groban – Stages

Yep, Kelly and Mariah were freeeee this past month. It was for a week or so, so that was nice. I listened to Kelly’s album as soon as I downloaded, but didn’t give it a listen much afterwards. 😉 As for Mariah, well, you know…Not much listen either. I decided to pick up Josh Groban because I heard he’s good, plus he does a cover of All I Ask Of You (from Phantom of The Opera) with Kelly on his album Stages.

~Movie/TV Purchases~

On Itunes:

Veronica Mars The OC

Both of these were (are?) only $4.99 on Itunes for the first season! So I of course had to buy VMars, so now I can have it on my ipod. Does anyone even use ipods anymore or is it all music from iPhones? Ha. I bought The O.C. because I’ve never seen it, once again, it will live on my ipod. So yay. Good digital buying month for sure.

~What I’ve Been Watching~

The 100 poster Jessica Jones

I watched all of The 100 in the span of 63 hours, yes, 63 hours. I mean, they’re not super long seasons, but still. As for Jessica Jones, I’m finishing that up now. I’m on the last episode and I have really liked it. I also really liked The 100 too. You can possibly expect posts on both shows next month (in four hours for me, officially). 🙂

So that is it for me. What have you read or watched or listen to or discovered this past month? How was your Christmas? Are you doing anything for New Year’s (hence why you won’t be commenting on this blog)? 😉
