Bout of Books 18

bout_of_books_18

Hi everyone. I am making my link-up post for the Bout of Books 18 read-a-thon. If you’re not familiar with Bout of Books, this is the description:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 2nd and runs through Sunday, January 8th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 18 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

I’ve done Bout of Books a couple times and I think my best reading track was done the first time around. I’m going to make my goal at only four books plus finishing the current book I’m reading.

I have two days off of work this week along with Sunday, so I’m hoping that will help quite a bit. 🙂 I read three books in the period of two days last month, granted, I was without the time-sucker known as the internet. Still, that’s good progress!

Now, as for the books I want to read? Well, let’s see.

I want to finish American Girls, I’m about 76/286 pages into it.

I’d also love to read these four:

the_hate_u_give allegedly history_is_all_you_left_me A_List_Of_Cages

Yep, I’m ready to get my heart repeatedly snatched out and broken with every book.

So, I received Allegedly from @KainesCat on Twitter.

The Hate U Give is an eARC I can’t wait to get into it.

History Is All You Left Me and a List of Cages are two ARCS from BEA.

It’s quite amazing I hadn’t read HIAYLM because that was one of my top-priority books, after Holding Up The Universe, which I still have yet to finish. Oops.

Anyway, wish me luck! Let me know if you’re signing up and what your goals are. I’d love to hear them.

I’m Joining Bout of Books #17

Oh my gosh, it’s my favorite read-a-thon, even if I never do particularly well with any of them. I love this one because there’s chats and challenges! Though I may have to end up missing both chats because work cuts it really close. I’ll try to make the first one though (Monday, 7pm CT/8pm ET).

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 22nd and runs through Sunday, August 28th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 17 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

I’m going to try to do a big reading binge. I want to finish:

Ripple The_Possibility_Of_Somewhere Holding_Up_The_Universe

And read:

Girl_In_Pieces The_Weight_Of_Zero Still_Life_With_Tornado

I am nothing if not ambitious with my reading goals. The latter three I expect to be super feelsy and amazing. I have super, super, HUGE internal hype with all three. Here’s to hoping they don’t let me down! And I finish them. I have work this week too, but as long as I read before going to work and a little bit when coming home, I should be able to do this! Right? Right… I’m off Friday and Sunday so that should help to. Yes? Yes.

I’ll update my progress below every day:

I’m Joining The Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon

Hi! So, I am going to try this Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon again.

Anyway, I see that a ton of people have signed up, that’s really great! The Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon is hosted by Val @ The Innocent Smiley and Ely @ Tea and Titles. It runs from July 9th to July 16th.

Here is a little poll for you to vote on. My target is to read three books, so you’ll be able to select three options. Since I really struggle with reading fantasy on my own and I actually want to be able to participate in a discussion about a fantasy book every once in a while, this will be a mostly fantasy edition! With a couple Contemporaries thrown in the mix.

Don’t ask me why, but I thought this event already happened this past month. I even had it in my iCal as happening this past week. Oops. I did not do very well last year at all. Hopefully that will change this time around. I’m hoping that by reading fantasy, I’ll read them faster given that they’re generally fast-paced and very action-y which will lead to an interested Amber unable to put them down.

If you want to join this event, as you should, you can check it out here. and link up! The linky does end on June 29th though so do hurry. 😉

Joining The Lunar Chronicles Read Along (Finally)

Hi everyone! Brittany @ The Book Addict’s Guide are doing an awesome Lunar Chronicles (Re)Read Along and I’m joining in! I know, “Amber, you’re just NOW reading this awesome series?” I am, mysterious, anonymous visitor of my blog, I am. I am super excited for this read along because read alongs have only led to good things in my life, this is true.
Cinder Scarlet CressWinter
PLUS THE LUNAR CHRONICLES WAS KIND OF INSPIRED A LITTLE TINY BIT BY SAILOR MOON WHICH I LOVE AND ADORE AND WANT TO FOREVER WATCH. So!
Ahem…
The read along starts August 1st and goes until December 7th.
This is the schedule for reading taken from the post:
  • CINDER: August 1 – August 31
  • SCARLET: September 1 – September 30
  • CRESS: October 1 – October 31
  • WINTER: November 10 – December 7
NOTE: Since FAIREST is such a short read, it will not be officially included in the read along (it’s way too quick to dedicate a whole month to it)! If you want to read FAIREST too, the downtime between CRESS & WINTER might be a great time to squeeze it in!
Since I only have the first three books, I’m not sure if I’ll be participating after October, but I’m going to definitely try! What’s another book to buy? Nothing! Well, make that two books since I’d have to buy Winter. Whatever! I will figure it out.
You can follow along with my (non-spoilery) thoughts on TLC with the official hashtag, #TLCReadAlong.
THERE WILL ALSO BE FUN POSTS TO DO AND I AM ALREADY GOING TO DO ALL OF THEM. HAHAHAHAHA. Or, well, most of them. I’m not doing the Cinderella retellings because I don’t know any book retellings of Cinderella. 😦 That I’ve read, I mean. Sad. . .
I’m not sure if I was actually supposed to make an “official” post about my joining, but since I know everyone is so interested in my blogging/reading life, I thought What the heck? And here you are, reading the end of this post, wondering why you never followed me before. 😉
If you want to join the read a long, check out Brittany’s awesome post here
P.S. i did have two awesome Sailor Moon gifs above but WP hates me so I removed them because they kept glitching.

Weekly Recap #31 + Stacking The Shelves #27

Hi everyone! Here’s my weekly recap! This week for me has been fine. My sister left for this youth conference called MOVE, which is part of CIY (Christ In Youth) yesterday! So that’s fun. 😉 It’ll be a bit relaxing around here.

I am incredibly jealous of her. Her and some of the high school youth group at my church are going to Colorado where I went for my first CIY! They’re going to the same city, which means I imagine they’ll be staying at the same place (possibly) where I stayed at! I have such good memories of CIY, I loved it so much. *sighs* It’s a week long event that starts tomorrow and goes until Friday, but they’ll be getting back late Friday night and won’t stay for the whole thing, since Saturday is the 4th and parents want their kids back! Haha.

I guess I should recap my blog now!

Next Week:
Top Ten Tuesday
Review: 5 to 1 by Holly Bodger
Wondrous Covers Wednesday
Review: Because You’ll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas
Possible Amber’s Rambles
Possible More Than This Provincial Life

~Stacking The Shelves~
Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted at Tynga’s Reviews where bloggers can link up and show off all the books they received or bought or traded or stole or found! You can link up here!

I received books this week! Mostly from trades!
I got:
Because You’ll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas
Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
from Katie @ Katie’s Book Blog. Thank you for the trade!<3
Then I got
Anything Could Happen by Will Walton from Anna @ Lost Brain Cell. Thank you!
If you’re wondering why I have BYNMM and Anything Could Happen, it’s because I LOVED THEM BOTH SO MUCH I NEEDED PHYSICAL ARCS. Yes, I do have problems….

I ALSO BOUGHT LYING OUT LOUD BY KODY KEPLINGER FOR 2.99 FOR THE KINDLE. YOU PROBABLY SAW ME COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW I WAS DYING FOR FIVE CENTS BECAUSE OF COURSE I ONLY HAD 2.94. Luckily enough, my cousin let me use a whole five cents off her debit card! ❤

Lastly for my recap, I have joined Val @ The Innocent Smiley and Ely @ A Book So Fathomless awesome read-a-thon challenge. Here’s some information about that from them! :
Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.
Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read. When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.
This sounds like a really great chance to read some of my recently acquired books so I definitely hopped on. Plus, Val’s like the best so, there’s that going for it too. 😉
The read-a-thon starts on July 20th at 8am and ends on July 27th at 12am. If you’re interested in doing this, you should join in for sure!
Now, here is (hopefully) my poll for you all to vote on!
Okay, now that my…moment is over, I figured out how to add a poll from WordPress itself! Go figure. Ahem, anyway, you may now vote! In the actual poll. 😉 And you should join Val and Ely’s awesome challenge too!

Bout of Books 13!

Bout of Books 13
Hey everyone. I had such a fun time participating in Bout of Books at the beginning of the year, that I’ve decided to do it again! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s some information about it:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 11th and runs through Sunday, May 17th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 13 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
My goal is going to be to read at least three books. I’m not sure what three books yet though, except that they will be ARCs. If you want to track my progress, you can follow me on Twitter where I’ll most likely be talking about my reading or on my challenge page underneath “Bout of Books 13”. If you’re not participating, I encourage you to sign up! It’s fun and very low key! You have until May 11th to sign up. 🙂

Bout of Books ’15

Bout of BooksHey everyone. I ‘discovered’ this Bout of Books read-a-thon which you can read about below!
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 5th and runs through Sunday, January 11th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 12 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
I figured what better way to kick off the new year than to go on a quick reading spree, especially since I have a ridiculous amount of E-ARCS from EW that I need to read and review. This read-a-thon will hopefully give me a head start on them all. Plus I get to participate with fellow bloggers. 🙂 If you haven’t already, I encourage you to sign up! It sounds like fun, which I’m sure it will be.

I want to read at least six books, most of these are less than 300 pages so it should definitely be do-able.
My goal is to read at least these six books:
Since You’ve Been Gone by Mary Jennnifer Payne
I Was Here by Gayle Forman
Blues For Zoey by Robert Paul Weston
My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga
When Reason Breaks by Cindy L. Rodriguez
Remember by Eileen Cook
Then maybe these ones:
Things We Know By Heart by Jessi Kirby
Finding Paris by Joy Preble
Every Last Promise by Kristin Hallbrook
None of The Above by L.W. Gregorio
Wish me luck. 🙂
