If you haven’t heard of Because You’ll Never Meet Me, here’s the information:

Because You'll Never Meet Me

Because You’ll Never Meet Me (#1)

Leah Thomas

Genre: Science Fiction, Speculative Fiction, Contemporary

Published: July 2nd, 2015 (Bloomsbury Children’s)

Goodreads Summary:

In a stunning literary debut, two boys on opposite ends of the world begin an unlikely friendship that will change their lives forever.

Ollie and Moritz are best friends, but they can never meet. Ollie is allergic to electricity. Contact with it causes debilitating seizures. Moritz’s weak heart is kept pumping by an electronic pacemaker. If they ever did meet, Ollie would seize. But Moritz would die without his pacemaker. Both hermits from society, the boys develop a fierce bond through letters that become a lifeline during dark times—as Ollie loses his only friend, Liz, to the normalcy of high school and Moritz deals with a bully set on destroying him.

A story of impossible friendship and hope under strange circumstances, this debut is powerful, dark and humorous in equal measure. These extraordinary voices bring readers into the hearts and minds of two special boys who, like many teens, are just waiting for their moment to shine.

I loved this book an unbelievable amount, it’s received a ton of mention on my blog between an interview with Leah Thomas, my five star review, of course, as well as making several Top Ten Tuesday lists. Nowhere Near You is my most anticipated book of next year and I’m so happy to be saying I’ll be receiving an Advanced Reader’s Copy in mere days. I’m sure to devour it.

If you’d like to avoid spoilers, you can just look at the pretty cover below and bypass the Goodreads summary.

Nowhere Near You

Nowhere Near You (Because You’ll Never Meet Me #2)

Leah Thomas

Genre: Science Fiction, Speculative Fiction, Contemporary

Published: February 7th, 2017 (Bloomsbury Children’s)

Goodreads Summary:

Following her acclaimed debut, Morris Award finalist Leah Thomas takes Ollie and Moritz’s unique friendship in exciting new directions.

In this compelling story of unusual friendship, Ollie and Moritz will once again charm readers with their humor and wit as they search for their place in the world.

Ollie and Moritz might never meet, but their friendship knows no bounds. Their letters continue as Ollie embarks on his first trip away from the woods and Moritz decides which new school would best suit an eyeless boy.

Along the way they meet other teens like them, who lead seemingly normal lives in ways Ollie and Moritz never imagined possible: A boy who jokes about his atypical skeleton; an aspiring actress who hides a strange deformity. Suddenly the future feels wide open for two former hermits. But even as Ollie and Moritz thrive in new experiences, they can’t escape their past, which threatens to destroy any progress they’ve made.

Isn’t it a pretty cover? I really love how simple it is, how it incorporates the silhouettes again and how it displays the settings!

I am so excited to see where Ollie and Moritz go this book, as well as how their relationship flourishes given their new situations. I have been so hungry for this book since minutes after I realized there would be a sequel. I’m so excited for it, you guys have NO idea.

Because You’ll Never Meet Me was so unique with so many different elements, the characters were written so well, it was just amazing. Leah’s jumped to one of my favorite authors ever despite only reading one book by her.

Speaking of Leah, she’s going to be at COMIC CON this Thursday! More importantly, she’s going to be on a panel FOLLOWED BY A SIGNING.

I have the information on that:

1:00 – 2:00 PM                    Panel: Hey, You Got Science In My Fiction!
Room 32AB

The best science fiction comes from a kernel of truth, something that makes readers think Wait…could this actually happen? From technology to medicine to space travel, distinguished authors J. Patrick Black (Ninth City Burning), Blake Crouch (The Wayward Pines trilogy), Christopher Farnsworth (Killfile), Patrick Hemstreet (God Wave), Leah Thomas (Because You’ll Never Meet Me), and Andy Weir (The Martian) will discuss with moderator Brendan Reichs (The Virals series) how they create believable sci-fi stories and just how much fact there truly is in their fiction.

Signing:
4:00 – 5:00 PM                   Autographing Area signing Table 9

Okay, so when you go to the signing (because how could you NOT after my raving? Do NOT throw away your shot), tell her Amber from YA Indulgences said hi and that I wish I were there. Just do that for me.

Cover Reveal for Game On by Michelle Smith

Hey everyone! I’m so happy to be part of the cover reveal for Michelle’s new book. Confession time: I haven’t read Play On.
Amber, you haven’t read Play on??
No, I haven’t dear reader.
Isn’t Game On like a companion novel to Play On?
Yes, dear reader. . .
So why are you doing this cover reveal again?
I am doing this cover reveal because Holly and Danielle loved Play On a ton and the fact that I have really wanted to read Play On, I just haven’t had time. I bought it on the (surprise) release date though! If that’s any consolation.
Okay, enough of my talking. Sort of.
First, let’s take a look at Play On, the first book in the Lewis Creek series:
Look at that! Isn’t it wonderful? It’s wonderful. I adore it.
Play On
Onto the sequel companion novel!
Here’s Game On‘s summary for you. 🙂 It sounds amazing.
Title: Game On (Lewis Creek #2)
Author: Michelle Smith
Release Date: January 2016
Publisher: Spencer Hill Contemporary
Synopsis:
Eric Perry is Lewis Creek’s resident bad boy. When he’s named the new starting pitcher in a town that thinks baseball is everything and he is nothing but trouble, Eric knows he has to clean up his act. Lay low, his coach tells him—at least long enough to actually pitch a game. But when a fight with his teammate lands him in jail yet again, his season may be over before it starts…until his next door neighbor, Bri, comes to the rescue. Making a deal with Eric’s coach, she offers him one final chance at redemption: community service.
Bri Johnson hadn’t talked to Eric in months. Her boyfriend Matt, Eric’s teammate and the school’s golden boy, didn’t like her to be around Eric. Matt didn’t like a lot of things Bri did or said or wore, which is why she ends it with him the same night he and Eric get into a fight—a fight over her. That night is the reason Bri offers to take Eric with her to the community center each week, so he can keep his spot on the team. But spending time with Eric only makes her life worse, as scandalous rumors start flying and Matt refuses to let her move on.
While Eric and Bri work closely together at the center, old stories of stargazing, first kisses, and a time when they were friends start to re-connect them. As they open up their secrets and their hearts to each other, they start to see that they are more than what other people think they are—and even more than what they think about themselves.
Here are links for Play On. I’ll be posting the links for Game On on Monday when it’s on GR. 🙂

Well… I assume you all would love to see the cover now, wouldn’t you? I think I heard a yes! Okay, since you’ve (hopefully) been so patient, here’s the cover:

Game On

Oh my gosh, this cover has my favorite colors, dark blue and sky blue! I love how it keeps the baseball theme of the first book but mixes it up a little.  It’s so gorgeous. I hope you’ve enjoyed this cover reveal, if you have, you might want to check out Play On in anticipation for Game On. 🙂
