Joining The Write Those Reviews Party (June 13-20)

Write Those Reviews Party
Hi everyone! I’m participating in the Write Those Reviews party which was created by Ashley (@Bookz4Nerdz) and Xander (@ForeverBookish) You can find out more information here. You will find the lovely graphic there as well. 🙂
Basically the challenge is to catch up on reviews in this one week period, if you have read any of my posts lately, you probably know I’ve been slacking an incredible amount. AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT. I WROTE ONE REVIEW LAST MONTH. ONE. Enough of that, I’m totally into this challenge.

Here’s my list of reviews:
Anything Could Happen by Will Walton
Because You’ll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas
More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
5 to 1 by Holly Bodger
Fans of The Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios
The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn
Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor
If you see me on Twitter (@YAIndulgences) feel free to say “Hey, Amber! How are all your reviews coming along?”, I totally will not mind at all. 😀 If you have a lot of reviews you have to write, I think you should join in with me!
During my weekly recap next week, I’ll share my progress with you all. 🙂

RRWC May Challenge #2: Bookspine Poetry!!

Hey everyone. 🙂 Saturday I did the first challenge (late) for the Rosie Reads Weekly Challenge for May, which was a life playlist. This week the challenge is to make a poem using the spines of books! I started a bookspine poem back in…March, I believe when Paula Stokes was doing a Liars Inc Twitter party and a challenge was to make a bookspine poem. I never (really) ended up finishing that one…until now! I think. 🙂 You can decide. To be exact, the challenge is…
Welcome to your second challenge! How does this work? Well, this week you have until Friday at 11:59 PM EST to make a poem out of the spines of your collection of books (see example below). Make sure you have at least FIVE book spines in your poem, and show me a picture!
— Rosie @ Rosie Reads
I was gathering together all my books for the poem when I realized….I couldn’t find a few of them! D: And I KNOW they’re around here somewhere, but, well, you know how book hoarders are! They’re EVERYWHERE. So…my picture will be missing a few books, but I’ll list the poem in full below.
Also, it’s a bit long, hence the two stacks of books. 🙂 Hopefully all the books are in the right order, haha.
Book Spine Poem
The poem, which I’ve titled:
Memoirs of A Teenage Amnesiac (also a book I have but didn’t throw it in)
This song will save your life,
tonight the streets are ours
Even in Paradise, We were liars INot pictured)
Dangerous boys
The kiss of deception lying out loud,
Dangerous Girls
Love letters to the dead
“To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” (Not pictured)
Crazy, beautiful, clean
Lovely, dark, and deep
Rebels by accident falling into place (Not pictured)
Cinder, catching fire, ruin and rising
The sky is everywhere, the wrath and the dawn,
let’s get lost.

Sorry it’s hard to see on the picture. 😦 I had to use my laptop to take it. Have you ever done bookspine poetry? If you have, I want to see! If not, you definitely should! It’s fun. 🙂

My Sophomore Life Soundtrack (RRWC May Challenge #1)

Okay, if you read my blog Sunday, you saw I linked to Rosie’s blog because she is hosting weekly challenges! You can read more about that here. For each challenge you do, you can get an extra entry for a $15 Amazon gift card or a book up to $15 from Book Depository at the end of the month! I definitely needed in on this!
I remembered reading her post, unfortunately, I completely spaced out yesterday forgetting it was the deadline to do the first challenge. I forgot I was going to originally do this for my “More Than This Provincial Life” feature, so that sucks even more. 😦
Therefore…I missed the deadline. 😦 Even more unfortunate, I had my post basically done(!!!) for the first challenge. However, because I’m a non-conformist (and really want to share my music taste), I’m doing it anyway! So yeah. 😀
Oh, I should probably mention what the challenge was, right? 🙂
The challenge was:
Welcome to your first challenge! How does this work? Well, this week you have until Friday at 11:59 PM EST to make a “Life Soundtrack” out of the letters of your name (see example below). Be as C R E A T I V E as you can! Make the tracklist, make some album art, maybe even add the songs to your post! Challenge yourself to the extreme!
I’m a music addict, if you didn’t know. So of course I HAD to do this post regardless that I missed the deadline.
The playlist I made takes place during my sophomore year of high school. That was such an insane, hard year for me and I was really exploring my music taste. Mostly in the rock/screamo genre. 🙂 There’s a combination of songs I discovered during the school year and then some songs I discovered the summer after the school year. The interesting thing about my Sophomore year is that up until April, I was at one school, then I moved cities and obviously transferred schools.
I’m going to label the songs for each of the time periods!<3
BT — Before Transferring
AT — After Transferring
S — Summer
I’ll link all the songs to a playlist in Youtube so you can check them out. Here’s the playlist
Already Gone by Crossfade (S)
My World by Sick Puppies (AT)
Breakdown by Breaking Benjamin (BT)
Everything’s Wrong by Crossfade (S)
Raining All The Time by Kill Hannah (S)
Dance Hall Drug by Boys Like Girls (AT)
A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More “Touch Me” by Fall Out Boy (AT)
Waking The Demon by Bullet For My Valentine (AT)
Niki FM by Hawthorne Heights (BT)
Build God Then We’ll Talk by PATD (BT)
A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold (BT)
Revenge Is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were) (S)
Never Too Late by Three Days Grace (BT)
Everything I’m Not by The Veronicas (S)
Scream by Kill Hannah (AT)
So as you can see, I was very into Kill Hannah, Crossfade, and Sick Puppies. I was even more into Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace.
~Fun Facts About Some of The Songs~
  • I discovered Crossfade the summer after I transferred because their Falling Away album had just come out. It was basically my soundtrack all summer, I could have (and did originally, when I was brainstorming) filled up my whole playlist with songs from that album. ❤
  • I “really” discovered Bullet For My Valentine through their ‘Scream Aim Fire” album and Fall Out Boy with their “Infinity On High album” because they both came out around the same time too. That was a good year for music. Really is in quotes because I listened to them a lot more after that.
  • A youth leader introduced me to A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold. I remember I was just getting into the rock music scene and one night, he was like “Listen to A Little Piece of Heaven” so I did and I was shocked, you know? Because it was a youth leader recommending it to me! Haha. If you don’t know what a youth leader is, it’s a person that helps out with the (Christian) youth group that I was in.
  • Never Too Late definitely got me through a lot of hard times before I transferred high schools, let’s just say, it wasn’t a fun time at my old one.
  • I believe I discovered Revenge Is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were) at a friend’s house. Who I met at a festival. For the first time. Ever. And spent a week with. Who I originally knew online. 😀 Yay for meeting “strangers” online! This occurred during the summer after I moved. 🙂 I fell in love with The Veronicas over the summer.
It was hard narrowing all the songs down! It’s times like these I wish my name/title were Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. 😀 Shoutout to the princess. I’d love to have such a long name like that for my playlist. Haha. Okay.

Well, there’s my playlist! Tell me what kind of music you listened to in high school or what you listen to now if you’re in high school. Did you go through a rock phase as I did? Were you more pop-ish? I was DEFINITELY more pop-ish until I met people and listened to the music they mentioned. 😀
