Summer Blogger Promo Tour Wrap-Up

Hey everyone! This is actually my first official post since I went on hiatus and I suppose it marks my official return as well? šŸ™‚ More on that tomorrow, though.
Here’s my wrap up post for the Summer Blogger Promo Tour that I participated in for the past two months.
SBPT15 MEME
~What I Liked~
I liked the idea of promoting other blogs and being promoted on their blogs.
I liked getting to discover new bloggers and finding things I had in common with them.
I made new friends!Ā
~What I Would Change~
I would make the groups smaller to begin with, maybe only four to six people rather than eight. It was hard to keep track of everyone’s emails and Twitter DMs.
I would possibly put co-bloggers in their own groups just because if you have co-bloggers in your group, you kind of have to worry about talking to two more people.
I would make sure everyone was fully committed to the project, I know life circumstances come up,but it really sucks when a post is planned only to discover the poster is quitting SBPT.
~My Experience~
My experience was overall okay. I don’t know if I would do it again, there were a few complications in my group which made it stressful for me. I still enjoyed joining in on this summer event, it was fun, what went well. šŸ™‚
I loved coming up with posts, especially two, which I’ll link below. I was kind of a bad poster, I know two days I wasn’t able to post on my blog until hours after the designated time. I generally wrote all my posts at last minute or wrote them ahead time, then wanted to edit it the night before I was scheduled. Lol.Ā
I hope you enjoyed all the posts. šŸ™‚
If you want to a recap on all the bloggers who guest posted, here they are:

SBPT #8: April and The Places She’ll Read

SBPT15 MEME
Hi everyone! Here is my eighth and finalĀ post for the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by Amber and Jessica fromĀ The Book Bratz. I am so sorry this is a day late, but I totally forgot until last minute. Anyway, thisĀ weekā€™s post is featuringĀ April from Between The Pages and she’ll be talking about the places she’ll read. šŸ™‚Ā

Ā ā€œOh the Places you will Readā€
So after talking with Amber, I decided to do a post on the places I like/end up when I read. Honestly I only have a couple. I usually read either while Iā€™m in bed at night or on the couch during the day. These seem to be my most comfortable places to read, whether itā€™s on my kindle, phone or holding the actual book. It all mostly depends on my mood and if the book is so good I canā€™t stop reading it. Like my last read: My Life Next Door by HuntleyĀ Fitzpatrick, I started reading it before I fell asleep and then ended up finishing it the next day while sitting on the couch.
A lot of times if Iā€™ve started reading something on my Kindle and donā€™t take it with me, I will start a new book on my phone or IPad instead of going back upstairs to get my kindle. Sometimes the couch is just too comfy. LOL I also tend to read in the car if someone else is driving and I really want to finish a book.
When I was traveling for work, planes and trains were my choice spots to read. I could almost read an entire book on a flight since most of them where to places in the Midwest and I live on the east coast. Trains also worked because they were a great way to pass the time, especially if the train stopped at every stop between Virginia and wherever I was going.
So those are my favorite places to read. Iā€™d love to hear some of yours.

Thanks for the great post April! If you want to hear more from April, you can visit her blog, follow her on Twitter, follow her on instagram, and follow her on Pinterest.

SBPT #7: Amber and Jessica (The Book Bratz) – This/That

SBPT15 MEME

Hi everyone! Here is my seventh post for the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by Amber and Jessica fromĀ The Book Bratz. This week’s post is featuring Amber and Jessica themselves. šŸ™‚ I came up with a similarity type postĀ set up as “If you like this TVĀ show, then try this book”. I hope you all like it.

~This/That~

  • If you likeĀ Game of Thrones,Ā then try reading this book:Ā Siren’s FuryĀ by Mary Weber – I haven’t watched GoT yet (I will eventually) and from what I hear it is a high fantasy and very twisted! I think The Storm Siren trilogy would go pretty well with this.Ā
  • If you likeĀ Orphan Black, then try reading this book:Ā PerfectedĀ by Kate Jarvik Birch – Orphan Black is about genetically modified clones and Perfected is about Genetically modified people.Ā
  • If you likeĀ Pretty Little Liars, then try reading this book:Ā The Lying GameĀ by Sara Shepard – it’s the same author and it’s another great rich-girl-gets-murdered story!
  • If you likeĀ The Fault in Our Stars,Ā then try reading this book:Ā Me and Earl and the Dying GirlĀ by Jesse Andrews – It’s another cancer book, but in a whole different way – instead of making you cry the entire time, this book tells the story in a way that has you laughing nonstop.
  • If you likeĀ TheĀ Bachelorette, then try reading this book:Ā The SelectionĀ by Kiera Cass – It’s the same situation, just reversed – there’s one guy and a whole slew of potential princesses to choose from!
  • If you likeĀ Peter Pan, then try reading this book:Ā Tiger LilyĀ by Jodi Lynn Anderson – It’s actually the story of Peter Pan BEFORE the story we all know and love starts! Before Peter and Wendy’s paths collided, his heart belonged to another girl – Tiger Lily.
  • If you like science fiction TV shows, then try reading this book:Ā CinderĀ by Marissa Meyer – It’s the epic sci-fi story! It has space, cyborgs, androids – all of that cool stuff!

Here is some more information about them. šŸ™‚ –

A Brief Hiatus

Hello everyone! I have sort of unfortunate news. I am going to be taking a hiatus from blogging. Long story short, there’s just a lot of drama at home right now and it’s hard to deal with. It’s sucking my energy and making blogging a chore.
Besides that, I’ve also been in a reading/blogging and commenting slumps for months now and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because of all the ARCs I requested without pacing myself or I just really don’t have the energy to do any of it right now. I don’t know.
Anyway, for at least the next two weeks this blog will be on hiatus. It may last until the end of the month though. I really hate to do this, I don’t want any new viewersĀ to forget me. šŸ˜¦ But I just need to do it. I’ll try to be back by September. I just need a break from whatever this is going on.
While I’m on my hiatus, IĀ willĀ still be on Twitter, so feel free to hit me up there, always. I’ll be working on finishing some reviews, reading and possibly visiting some blogs. Mostly friends’ blogs that I’ve neglected.<3 I may continue doing my Wondrous Covers Wednesday feature though, I’m not sure yet.
I am participating in the Summer Blog Promo Tour so I’ll still be posting those until the end of August as well as writing posts for the other bloggers in it. Then on the 31st of this month, I’ll do my wrap up post. Hopefully by then I’ll be ready to get back into blogging again.

Looking Forward To: August ’15

Looking Forward To is a monthly feature that I do at the beginning of every month and talk about things Iā€™m looking forward to.Ā

For Review: I have A History of Glitter and Blood and Another Day for review, which I still need to read.
Excited For: I’m super excited for Not After Everything, Matt’s Story and The Boy Most Likely To. Unfortunately, I won’t be receiving The Boy Most Likely To until late October because I pre-ordered it with books that don’t come out until September/October. šŸ˜¦ Matt’s Story is actually a really short companion novella to The Night We Said Yes. I loved TNWSY so I can’t wait to read Matt’s Story.

Ā ~Movies~

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ (August 4th)

Okay, part of me is really ecstatic about this. Like thrilled. Beyond belief. The other part of me is really confused. How did I not know about this? Omg.
The Diary of a Teenage Girl (August 7th)

I’m not sure how I feel about this either, but it looks interesting. Definitely has that whole indie vibe (it was at the Sudance film festival after all). It reminds me of Juno too.
Ten Thousand Saints (August 14th)
I can’t resist a coming of age movie. Plus Ethan Hawke is involved.
We Are Your Friends (August 28th)
It has Zac Efron! I don’t need to know anything else. It involves music too, so I’m totally sold.
Some Kind of Beautiful (August 21st)
I am just so indecisive about all the movies. This one looks like it could be entertaining.

~What Else I’m Excited For~

  • Participating in the Lunar ChroniclesĀ readalong that Brittany’s hosting
  • Shopping for my OTSPSecretSister and seeing what my other secret sister has for me.
  • Fall is coming! Kind of. šŸ˜¦

Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

Let me know what you’re looking forward to this month, if you’ve read any of these books, ifĀ you’ve also heard the amazing Emotion album or what you think about the movie trailers. šŸ™‚Ā

SBPT #5: Milly with the Seven Deadly Sins Tag

SBPT15 MEME
Hi everyone. This is my fourth post for the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by Amber and Jessica at The Book Bratz. This week I have Milly ofĀ The YAā€™s Nightstand. She’ll be doing the Seven Deadly Sins tag. šŸ™‚

~Greed~ What is your most inexpensive book? What is your most expensive book?~
Well thatā€™s a hard one being as I get 90% of my books for review so theyā€™re kinda free. But If I went with my favourite book Iā€™ve had sent to me it would have to be The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich. Itā€™s insanely brilliant and had me guessing all the way through.. still donā€™t know what I think happened and itā€™s guiense.
The Dead House
Most expensive is probably my limited edition copy of Jane Eyre I got from waterstones itā€™s so pretty!!!
Jane_Eyre
~Wrath~ What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?~
Thatā€™s a list and a half! George R.R. Martin for two reasonsā€¦ 1. He takes so damn long to write a book, I mean at this rate he wont even get the chance to finish the series. 2. Okay so I love the books, I do, but all that characters are so tiring. It was fine with the first few books but as he went on he introduced so many more points of view my head hurt!!!
A Song of Ice and Fire Game of Thrones
~Gluttony~ What book have you devoured over and over again with no shame?~
Harry Potterā€¦ EVERY. SINGLE. ONE!!!
Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone
~Sloth~ What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?~
The Book of Life by Deborah Harknessā€¦ I love this series but this last book is so big!!!! Laziness is the only reason I have for not reading this one.
The Book of Life
~Pride~ What book do you talk about most in order to sound like an intellectual reader?~
I donā€™t have oneā€¦ Oops.
~Lust~ What attributes do you find attractive in male characters?~
Tall, dark and handsome to start with. I like a bad boy, someone a little broken that you can see needs someone to help fix them. Normally a character that throughout the story finds redemption because of the main female protagonist. I really do have a thing for the bad boysā€¦ I just canā€™t help it. This Klaus from The Originals personality wise and the looks of Aidan Turnerā€¦ the world would explode if this happened.
Klaus (The Originals)
~Envy~ What book would you most like to receive as a gift?~
Right now? The new Giovanna Fletcher book, Dream a little Dream.
Dream A Little Dream

Thanks for doing this post Milly. šŸ™‚Ā
Here’s a bio for Milly:
The names Mily and I’m a total book nerd! I love to read and write and just about anything else you can think of to do with words… and yes that means talking (lots). I started my blog about 18 months ago because I had writers block and wanted to find another outlet for my writing. Currently a student in the UK studying textile design and working my way into the Bridal industry. I have a mild iced coffee addiction and find there’s nothing better than a frappuccino on a hot summers day with a good YA book to read. To find out more about me check out my ramblings on twitterĀ @TheYANightstand

Monthly Recap: July ’15

Every month I recap my life, my blogging life, and talk about music/movie/broadway and book news that happend over the past month!

~Life~

  • Life…Well, I got through the fourth of July! That’s always stressful for me because I do not like firecrackers or loud fireworks at all.
  • I went to Oceans of Fun, an amusement park in another city and got super sunburned, so that part wasn’t fun. It wasn’t too bad though. Minus me almost drowning in the wave pool and my $15 cup getting stolen (thanks for that, random person). This past week I helped as a crew leader for VBS at my church. I basically lead kids to different stations and talked to them. This was my fourth or fifth year doing it, not continuously.Ā

~What I’ve Been Watching~
I finished up season two of Friday Night Lights. I just watched a little of season 3 so I’m not sure if I’ll be watching the rest very soon or not. I live-tweet it (generally) with #FNLFirstWatch.
I have been watching the “final” 10 episodes of Degrassi this past week. I just need to watch “Finally” whenever it’s up online. Oh my gosh, it’s on Youtube! I’ll be watching that now then. šŸ™‚ And finishing this recap when I’m done. I’m going to someday watch the entire series from start to finish, I just don’t know when. I’m very sad about Degrassi being “over”, it’s like Glee all over again. Except worse, because I’ve watched Glee for seven-eight years. šŸ˜¦ Here’s a video!!!
AND THEY PLAY “I LIVED” IN THE BACKGROUND AND I’M JUST LIKE “WHY DIDN’T YOU USE THAT IN THE LAST SCENE OF DEGRASSI? GOSH, MISSED OPPORTUNITY. My heart still hurts….It’s only two minutes and I wish it were 100. šŸ˜¦ ā¤ Here’s another video!
I’M NOT CRYING, YOU’RE CRYING! This is so sad. But again, the new “show” will be on Netflix next year.
I’m going to go back to watching Boy Meets World season 4, if you would like, you can follow my tweets (@YAIndulgences) with #BMWRewatch. šŸ™‚

Let me know how your month was!
