Waiting on Wednesday (#10)
Hey guys. It’s Waiting on Wednesday, a meme created and hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. Every Wednesday, you can share that one special book yet to be released that you’re waiting to have. If you would like to join in and link up, you can go here.
I didn’t think I would actually be posting WoW this week, as I hadn’t heard of anything I was interested in being released this week. I discovered my pick earlier this week though, on Monday. Although it doesn’t come out until next year, I couldn’t resist posting it. I’ve been anxiously awaiting until today to share it with you all! Here it is!
A Court of Thorn and Roses (#1) by Sarah J. Mass
Release Date: May 5th, 2015
Published By: Bloomsbury Children’s
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy, Fairytale, Romance
Pre-Order/Purchase: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Book Deposiory
Goodreads Summary:
When 19-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it … or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever
Why I Can’t Wait:
Isn’t it the most amazing cover you’ve ever seen? It’s so gorgeous. I don’t know what I love more, the title, the cover, or this beautiful, dangerous world of Fae with an ancient, wicked shadow idea. It just sounds so freaking amazing! Doesn’t it? It DOES.
I believe it’s a sort of Beauty and The Beast retelling. If you don’t know, Beauty and The Beast is my favorite Disney movie, I just love it so much. The only hint of that I see of the actual fairytale though is the beast like creature which is actually a faerie. There’s also Fevre who has to stop the shadow though or “doom Tamlin–and his world–forever”. It sounds so dramatic! Nevermind, on second thought, this totally sounds like a Beauty and The Beast high fantasy, super dramatic, awesome retelling. I can’t wait.
It’s by Sarah J. Mass who I’ve heard amazing things about. I just love this premise. I’ve never read a story involving faeries, unless you count Thumbelina and one or two others. 🙂 But this is a full length book! This book sounds so awesome, I’m going to have to pre-order it. If YOU want to pre-order it, there are three links above where you can do so.
That’s it for this week. What are you anxiously waiting on this Wednesday? Let me know in the comments. 🙂
Waiting On Wednesday (#9)
It’s another Wednesday! I actually have a selection for this (well technically next) week’s Waiting on Wednesday.

My selection for this week is. . .
Glory O’Brien’s History of Future by A.S. King
Release Date: October 14, 2014
Published By: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Genres: Young Adult, Dystopian, Magical Realism
Pre-Order/Purchase: Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
Graduating from high school is a time of limitless possibilities—but not for Glory, who has no plan for what’s next. Her mother committed suicide when Glory was only four years old, and she’s never stopped wondering if she will eventually go the same way…until a transformative night when she begins to experience an astonishing new power to see a person’s infinite past and future. From ancient ancestors to many generations forward, Glory is bombarded with visions—and what she sees ahead of her is terrifying.
A tyrannical new leader raises an army. Women’s rights disappear. A violent second civil war breaks out. And young girls vanish daily, sold off or interned in camps. Glory makes it her mission to record everything she sees, hoping her notes will somehow make a difference. She may not see a future for herself, but she’ll do everything in her power to make sure this one doesn’t come to pass.
Why I Can’t Wait:
I’ve never read any of A.S. King’s work but I heard she is amazing, so for that fact alone I want to check this book out. I’m intrigued by this book because it sounds a little like The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, because of Glory struggling with life and wondering how she’ll end up, then being able to see people’s pasts and futures. This sounds really fascinating. I’m really interested in seeing how this leader acts and how this all comes about. The visions Glory receives sound like they’ll be interesting to read about.
I’m expecting there is definitely a totalitarian government going on in this society. Glory seems to be following the path of Katniss from The Hunger Games and other Dystopian era’d teenagers to overcome the government.
What releases are you looking forward to? Let me know. 🙂
Waiting On Wednesday #7 (9/10/14)
Hey everyone. It’s another Waiting On Wednesday post. Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. where on Wednesdays, book blogger share what book they’re eagerly waiting on. I have two books I can’t wait to read.
My first selection:
Evidence of Things Not Seen by Lindsey Lane
Release Date: September 16th, 2014
Published By: Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR)
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Mystery, Paranormal, Science Fiction
Purchase: Amazon / Barnes and Noble / Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
When high school junior Tommy Smythe goes missing, everyone has a theory about what happened to him. Tommy was adopted, so maybe he ran away to find his birth parents. He was an odd kid, often deeply involved in his own thoughts about particle physics, so maybe he just got distracted and wandered off. He was last seen at a pull-out off the highway, so maybe someone drove up and snatched him. Or maybe he slipped into a parallel universe. Tommy believes that everything is possible, and that until something can be proven false, it is possibly true. So as long as Tommy’s whereabouts are undetermined, he could literally be anywhere.
Told in a series of first-person narratives from people who knew Tommy and third-person chapters about people who find the things Tommy left behind—his red motorbike, his driving goggles, pages from his notebook—Particles explores themes of loneliness, connectedness, and the role we play in creating our own realities.
Why I Can’t Wait:
I’m excited for Evidence of Things Not Seen for a variety of reasons. I’m interested in the mystery of Tommy, where exactly he is and how he got there. I think it’s interesting that Tommy believes that without proof, anything is possible, including his being in a parallel universe.
I love first person narratives and third person chapters. The intertwining sounds like it could really impact the story. I love stories with a variety of point of views because it seems wide spread. The themes of loneliness, connectedness and our own realities are all something that I can relate to and find fascinating.
My second choice is:
The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard
Release Date: October 7th, 2014
Published By: HarperCollins
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Mystery
Purchase: Amazon / Barnes and Noble / Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
From the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling series Pretty Little Liars comes a thrilling new novel about five perfect girls who are framed for a murder they didn’t commit.
In Beacon Heights, Washington, five girls—Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie, and Parker—know that you don’t have to be good to be perfect. At first the girls think they have nothing in common, until they realize that they all hate Nolan Hotchkiss, who’s done terrible things to each of them. They come up with the perfect way to kill him—a hypothetical murder, of course. It’s just a joke…until Nolan turns up dead, in exactly the way they planned. Only, they didn’t do it. And unless they find the real killer, their perfect lives will come crashing down around them.
From Sara Shepard, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, comes another story of dark secrets, shocking twists, and what happens when five beautiful girls will do anything to hide the ugly truth.
Why I Can’t Wait:
I’ve read exactly one book by Sara Shepard, the first Pretty Little Liars book. It’s not hard or complicated reading, it’s easy to breeze through and it’s not very challenging. With that said, so far I really enjoy Sara Shepard’s books and this series sounders like it would be great for me to read.
It’s similar to Pretty Little Liars in that it involves five girls who are brought together by one thing, in this case, someone they all hate. I think it’s interesting how they plan a hypothetical murder because although people may not like someone, they generally don’t go and plan to hypothetically kill them because of it. This books makes me curious about who actually killed Nolan.
Those are my picks, what are yours? 🙂

Non-Blogging Life
This past week week I got a new kitten! She’s calico and possibly two months old, I think. Her name (as far as I’m concerned) is Eponine. 🙂 Named after Eponine from Les Miserables. She has so much energy. And she enjoys sleeping right by my face every night. I’m trying to make her stop that.

“This is what love does: It makes you want to rewrite the world. It makes you want to choose the characters, build the scenery, guide the plot. The person you love sits across from you, and you want to do everything in your power to make it possible, endlessly possible. And when it’s just the two of you, alone in a room, you can pretend that this is how it is, this is how it will be.”

Waiting On Wednesday (#6) (9/3/14)
Hey guys. It’s Wednesday so it’s time for Waiting On Wednesday. This meme is brought to you by Jill at Breaking The Spine. WoW is for sharing books you’re heavily anticipating on reading.
I have two selections this week. 🙂
All Those Broken Bones by Peter Adam Salomon
Release Date: September 8th, 2014
Published: Flux
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Mystery, Paranormal
Amazon / Barnes and Noble / Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
Comforted by a shadow. Haunted by the truth.
Richard Anderson was the last person to see his friend Melanie alive. She vanished when they were six and while the police never found Melanie, a part of her remained—a living shadow that is now Richard’s closest friend.
For ten years, Richard has never questioned the shadow that keeps him company . . . until a new girl moves to town, claiming to be Melanie. Desperate to prove the girl is a fake, the shadow leads Richard to the place where her killer buried her bones. But Richard finds skeletons from several different children . . . and evidence suggesting that perhaps the shadow isn’t who she says she is.
Why I Can’t Wait:
This book sounds creepy! I’ll have to be sure to read it with the lights on, during the day, with a house full of people. Haha. It reminds me of a Fear Street book by R.L. Stine. The one with the guy whose girlfriend gets killed when they’re sledding or something? Then a year later he meets a girl and, yeah, that’s all I’m saying about that.
Get Even (Don’t Get Mad #1) by Gretchen McNeil
Release Date: September 16th, 2014
Published by Balzar & Bray
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Mystery
Amazon / Barnes and Noble / Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars in Gretchen McNeil’s witty and suspenseful novel about four disparate girls who join forces to take revenge on high school bullies and create dangerous enemies for themselves in the process.
Bree, Olivia, Kitty, and Margot have nothing in common—at least that’s what they’d like the students and administrators of their elite private school to think. The girls have different goals, different friends, and different lives, but they share one very big secret: They’re all members of Don’t Get Mad, a secret society that anonymously takes revenge on the school’s bullies, mean girls, and tyrannical teachers.
When their latest target ends up dead with a blood-soaked “DGM” card in his hands, the girls realize that they’re not as anonymous as they thought—and that someone now wants revenge on them. Soon the clues are piling up, the police are closing in . . . and everyone has something to lose.
Why I Can’t Wait:
The Breakfast Club + Pretty Little Liars? Why that’s all I needed to hear.
This sounds fascinating. I’m intruiged with this “club” “Don’t Get Mad”. I wonder what kind of revenge they do exactly. Okay, someone ends up dead, I can only wonder who and how and why. And what person is behind this exactly? I hope this book is well done otherwise…there’s a chance I could be disappointed.
Those are my choices, what are yours? Let me know. 🙂
Waiting On Wednesday #5 (8/27/14)
Hey guys. It’s Waiting On Wednesday, a meme created and hosted by Jill @ Breaking The Spine. For this meme, bloggers post about upcoming releases they’re excited for. You can link up here.
I have one selection for this week:
I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
Release Date: September 16th, 2014
Published by Dial Books for Young Readers
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary
Amazon / Barnes and Noble / The Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
A brilliant, luminous story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, David Levithan, and Rainbow Rowell
Jude and her brother, Noah, are incredibly close twins. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude surfs and cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and divisive ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as an unpredictable new mentor. The early years are Noah’s story to tell. The later years are Jude’s. What the twins don’t realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.
This radiant, fully alive, sometimes very funny novel from the critically acclaimed author of The Sky Is Everywhere will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once.
Why I Can’t Wait:
I can’t wait to read this book because a big theme is family, which I love to see in Young Adult novels. I’m interested in knowing what the whole story is and why each of them only knew half. I’m excited to see the relationships between Noah and the boy next door as well as Jude and the boy she meets. I like how the story will be told from two different perspectives at two different times in the twins’ lives.
Waiting On Wednesday (#4)
Hey guys! It’s Waiting On Wednesday…being posted a little after Wednesday. 🙂 This meme is created and hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. Waiting on Wednesday is a me to showcase a book (or books) that you can’t wait to (but are) read.
I have two selections this week as usual. Both of them are just books I’ve recently discovered will be coming out.
Rumble by Ellen Hopkins
Release Date: August 26, 2014
Published by Simon & Schuster
Genres: Young Adult
Amazon / Barnes and Noble / The Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
Eighteen-year-old Matthew Turner doesn’t believe in much. Not in family—his is a shambles, after his brother’s suicide. Not in so-called friends who turn their backs when the going gets rough. Certainly not in some omnipotent master of heaven and earth, no matter what his girlfriend, Hayden, thinks. In fact, he’s sick of arguing with her about faith. Matt is a devout atheist, unafraid of some Judgment Day designed by decidedly human power brokers to keep the masses in check. He works hard, plays hard, and plans on checking out the same way. But a horrific accident—one of his own making—plunges Matt into a dark, silent place where the only thing he can hear is a rumble, and eventually, a voice. And what it says will call everything Matt has ever disbelieved into question.
Why I Can’t Wait:
I’ve never completed a whole Ellen Hopkins book, though I’ve wanted to, so this could be a first. I love how Ellen Hopkins writes about real teen issues in a way that doesn’t look down on their problems. I like the poetry free verse style that she uses a lot. I’m interested in seeing how Hopkins writes Matthew’s character and if there will be a positive or negative view of Christianity since I am a Christian. I’m also excited to read this because it sounds like Matthew will be going through a journey due to the accident.
Damaged by Amy Reed
Release Date: October 14, 2014
Published by: Simon Pulse
Genres: Young Adult
Amazon / Barnes and Noble / The Book Depository
Goodreads Summary:
Part ghost story, part epic roadtrip, and part reluctant love story, DAMAGED offers readers another piercing, poignant story full of emotional truth from author Amy Reed.
After Kinsey’s best friend Camille dies in a car accident during which Kinsey was driving, Kinsey shuts down, deciding that numbness is far better than mourning. All she wants during the last few weeks of high school is to be left alone, but Camille’s mysterious boyfriend, Hunter–who was also in the car that night–has different ideas.
Despite all of Kinsey’s efforts, she can’t outrun Camille, who begins haunting her dreams. Sleep deprived and on the verge of losing it, Kinsey runs away with Hunter to San Francisco. As they drive across the country, trying to escape both the ghost of Camille and their own deep fears, Kinsey questions all she once believed about her friendship with Camille. Hunter, meanwhile, falls into a spiral of alcoholism, anger, and self-loathing. Ultimately, Kinsey and Hunter must come to terms with what they’ve lost and accept that they can’t outrun pain
Why I Can’t Wait:
As with Ellen Hopkins, I’ve never read a book by Amy Reed, although I’ve read parts of Crazy. She’s been on my TBR list of authors I need to read books by. when I heard about Damaged coming out I was so excited. I’m in a roadtrip kind of mood, so Damaged sounds fantastic to me. I like that it’s also part ghost story along with what seems to be some eventual romance. I’m excited to see Hunter’s journey through alcoholism as well as Kinsey dealing with Camille’s death.
If you can’t tell by now, I really like Young Adult novels where the characters end up going through hard times, how it affects them and whether or not things get better for them. I have a little while to go before Hopkins release though, unfortunately. I am really really excited to read these two books as soon as possible.
Those are my selections, what are yours? 🙂

I attempted to finish Lola and The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins a few times this week. I just can’t get through it. 😦 This makes me very unhappy because I wanted to like it. I did in the beginning, but now I’m just a little over 200 pages and…I had to stop.
I started Looking For Alaska by John Green though, that one is really easy to read. I figured maybe a break from Lola would be good,
